Annaprashan Decoration at Home for Your Baby's First Rice Ceremony

Annaprashan is the day your baby tastes solid food for the first time, usually between the sixth and eighth month, with the family gathered around a small bowl of kheer or payesh. It is a short ceremony and one of the most photographed in the baby's first year, which is why we made it one of our own. Our trained decorator builds the rice ceremony decoration at your home, clubhouse or hall: a backdrop behind the feeding seat, balloons or fresh flowers in the theme colours, the baby's name, and a clean space in front for the thali and the elders. We have 13 annaprashan designs, from a pastel arch to a full Bengali floral setup, in 68 cities. Our setups start at ₹2,199 and every price includes the decorator's visit.

Why Book Annaprashan Decoration with Giftlaya?

  • Built around the ritual, not over it. Our decorator keeps the floor in front of the backdrop clear for the aasan, the rangoli and the thali, so the feeding is the centre of every photo.
  • Up in about an hour. Our home designs go up in sixty to ninety minutes and our decorator leaves before the first relative rings the bell.
  • Same-day for balloon designs. Three to four hours' notice in most of our 68 cities; our fresh-flower designs need a day so the marigold and jasmine are bought that morning.
  • Your colours, your baby's name. Every design can be made in your colours with the name in foil letters, confirmed on our call.
  • Cake in the same order. Our matching annaprashan cakes arrive with the decoration.

How Do I Decorate My Home for My Baby's Annaprashan?

Plan the decoration around the feeding spot, not the whole house. The ceremony happens in one place, with the baby on a parent's or grandparent's lap, so that is where our backdrop goes: a pastel or gold-and-white wall of balloons or flowers, an Annaprashan or Happy Rice Ceremony banner, and the baby's name in foil letters. We keep the floor in front clear for the aasan, the rangoli and the thali, and put the cake table to one side so the feeding photos and the cake photos share the same background. Our Pastel Rice Ceremony Arch and Annaprashan Home Decoration are our two most-booked home designs, and both go up in about an hour. To add to the base without crowding it, our decorator can set a small props table with the silver bowl, spoon and the objects for the choose-your-future game, and fairy lights if the ceremony is in the evening. Two or three colours look better than six, so our annaprashan balloon designs use a base colour, a pastel and one metallic.

Which Theme Is Best for a Baby Boy or Baby Girl Annaprashan?

For a baby boy, families most often choose our blue and white or sage green setups, or our Jungle Theme Annaprashan Setup with animal cut-outs and leafy balloons. For a baby girl, blush pink, peach and lavender lead, with our Annaprashan Theme Decoration, our highest-rated annaprashan design, in soft pastels and butterflies. If you would rather not go by colour, our Gold White Annaprashan Backdrop suits either and photographs well against any wall, and our Annaprashan Neon Light Setup adds a lit Annaprashan sign for an evening function. Every design can be made in your colours; mention them in the order notes and our decorator confirms on the call.

Annaprashan, Mukhe Bhaat, Annaprasana or Choroonu: One Ceremony, Many Names

The first rice ceremony is called mukhe bhaat in Bengal, annaprasana in Telugu and Kannada homes, choroonu in Kerala and annaprashan almost everywhere else, and our decoration follows the custom. A Bengali mukhe bhaat is the most elaborate: the baby is dressed as a small groom or bride, so our setup uses a traditional floral backdrop, marigold and jasmine strings, alpana-style patterns and a decorated seat for the maternal uncle who does the feeding; our Bengali Annaprashan Decoration is built for this, and our Rice Feeding Ceremony is the lighter version. For a South Indian annaprasana or choroonu, families usually want the traditional side visible, so our decorator keeps the banana leaves, the kalash and the rangoli space in front of a simpler balloon or flower backdrop rather than covering them.

Annaprashan Stage Decoration for a Hall or a Bigger Function

When the guest list crosses forty, the feeding moves onto a low stage so everyone can see. Our Annaprashan Hall Decoration covers a society clubhouse or a large living room with a full-width backdrop and seat decoration, and our Happy Rice Ceremony Decoration and Baby Rice Ceremony Decoration are our banquet-size annaprashan stages with printed backdrops, props and a photo area. Our decorator builds them freestanding on stands, so nothing is drilled in the hall.

How Much Does Annaprashan Decoration Cost in India?

Our annaprashan decoration starts at ₹2,199. Across our 13 designs, every price includes the material, the decorator's travel, the setup and the clean-up before guests arrive:

  • Simple home setups (pastel arch or backdrop, banner, name): ₹2,199 to ₹3,999
  • Theme and hall setups (jungle, pastel theme, gold-and-white, hall backdrop): ₹5,499 to ₹6,499
  • Traditional and customised setups (Bengali floral, printed backdrops, stage): ₹7,999 to ₹11,999

A matching cake is the usual add-on: our Annaprashan Fondant Cake, Rice Ceremony Cake for Boy and Annaprashan Theme Cake for Girl, from our theme cakes, arrive with the decoration when you order them together.

Can I Book Same-Day Annaprashan Decoration at Home Near Me?

Usually, yes. If you are searching for annaprashan decoration near me on the morning of the muhurat, our balloon designs can be set up the same day in most of our 68 cities with three to four hours' notice; our traditional flower designs need a day so the marigold and jasmine are bought fresh that morning. Booking two to three days ahead gets you the theme and colours you want and a slot that ends before the muhurat. Setup takes one to two hours depending on the design, our decorator takes your approval on the finished setup and leaves before the guests arrive.

Book Annaprashan Decoration Online with Giftlaya

Choose a design, select your city, the date and a slot that finishes at least an hour before the ceremony, and confirm with a small advance. Our decorator calls to confirm the colours, the baby's name and where the feeding seat will be, arrives with everything, and clears up before the first relative rings the bell. The first year moves fast, and we decorate every step of it: our naming ceremony decoration, cradle ceremony decoration and mundan ceremony decoration work the same way, our first birthday decoration comes sooner than you think, and if you missed the homecoming, our baby welcome decoration is still the most photographed setup we build.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few answers before you choose

How much does annaprashan decoration cost in India?

On Giftlaya, annaprashan decoration at home starts at ₹2,199 for a pastel arch with a banner and the baby's name. Theme and hall setups such as the jungle, pastel theme and gold-and-white backdrops cost ₹5,499 to ₹6,499, and traditional Bengali floral, printed-backdrop and stage setups ₹7,999 to ₹11,999. Every price includes the material, the decorator's visit, the setup and the clean-up.

What is included in an annaprashan decoration package?

Everything shown in the design photo: the backdrop or arch, balloons or fresh flowers in your colours, the Annaprashan or Happy Rice Ceremony banner, the baby's name in foil letters where pictured, seat decoration, fairy lights, damage-free tape, the decorator's travel and the full setup and clean-up. A matching annaprashan cake from our theme cakes range can be added to the same order.

What are simple annaprashan decoration ideas for a small flat?

One backdrop on the widest clear wall behind the feeding seat, a banner with the baby's name, and the floor in front kept clear for the aasan, rangoli and thali. A two-colour pastel balloon arch with a small props table for the silver bowl and spoon is enough for a 1BHK living room. The Pastel Rice Ceremony Arch (₹2,199) is built for exactly this and takes about an hour.

Which theme is best for a baby boy or baby girl annaprashan?

For a boy, blue and white, sage green or the Jungle Theme Annaprashan Setup with animal cut-outs are the most-booked. For a girl, blush pink, peach and lavender pastels with butterflies. The Gold White Annaprashan Backdrop suits either, and any design can be made in your colours.

Can I book same-day annaprashan decoration at home?

Usually, yes. Balloon designs can be set up the same day in most of our 68 cities with three to four hours' notice. Traditional flower designs need a day's notice so the marigold and jasmine are bought fresh on the morning of the ceremony. Choose a slot that ends at least an hour before the muhurat.

What is the difference between annaprashan, mukhe bhaat, annaprasana and choroonu decoration?

They are the same first rice ceremony under different regional names, and the decoration follows the custom. A Bengali mukhe bhaat setup is the most traditional, with a floral backdrop, marigold and jasmine strings and a decorated seat for the maternal uncle who feeds the baby. South Indian annaprasana and choroonu setups keep the banana leaves, kalash and rangoli space visible in front of a simpler backdrop. Tell us which ceremony you are holding and the decorator plans around its rituals.

How long does the annaprashan decoration setup take?

Simple home designs take about an hour; theme, floral and hall setups take one to two hours. The decorator arrives in your chosen slot with all the material, finishes the setup, takes your approval and leaves before your guests arrive, so book a slot that finishes before the muhurat.

Can the decoration be done at a banquet hall or society clubhouse?

Yes. The Annaprashan Hall Decoration and the two banquet-size Rice Ceremony Decorations are built for clubhouses and halls, with a low stage for the feeding so everyone can see. Put the venue's entry time and any no-drilling rule in the order notes and the decorator builds a freestanding setup.
